Dr. Beckham is a native Texan and lives in Houston. He earned his B.S. degree in Animal Science from Prairie View A&M University and commissioned through ROTC in the United States Army upon his graduation in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army Engineer Corps, both Active and Reserve Duty. Dr. Beckham later earned his Veterinary Degree from Tuskegee University in 1993. Soon after, he completed an internship in Small Animal Surgery and Medicine at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994.

Dr. Beckham returned to the Army and served in the Army Veterinary Corps. Throughout his military carrier he served in many roles and deployed to many theaters of operations. After active duty, he served in the reserves up to his last deployment in 2008. For over 15 years he worked for two Veterinary Medical Groups in multi-unit management as Medical Director for the Houston Market. Dr. Beckham is married and his wife is also a Veterinarian. He has a 14-year-old daughter. His family also includes his two energetic Jack Russell Terriers. He enjoys fishing, volunteering with local organizations and spending time with his brother on their family farm on weekends.
